Types of Anxiety

Types of Anxiety

CBT works effectively if your uncomfortable feelings are accompanied by negative self- talk and catastrophising, for example ’What if I fail the test;’ ‘what if he divorces me’; or, ‘I’ll never find Mr Right’.

Social Anxiety is when you might say ‘yes’ when you mean no, and avoid situations because of fear of being judged, and looking stupid.

General Anxiety Disorder may be a persistent and nagging feeling of dread, worry and unease, yet you may not even know the reasons why you are feeling this way. You may not remember the last time you felt relaxed, as this can last for months, or years, and nearly always has a negative impact on many areas of your life.

PTSD is an anxiety disorder that can occur when you have experienced a terrifying experience such as a death of a loved one, serious road accident, dysfunctional childhood with alcoholic parents, violence and/or emotional abuse. This becomes a problem when the symptoms of the event affect your relationships, causing outbursts of anger, emotional dysregulation and feelings of guilt. This can continue months and years after the event, where the intrusive symptoms may make you feel a complete lack of control over your mind and body.

I have found a combination of therapies to be more successful in treating anxiety symptoms and therefore use Clinical Hypnotherapy, NLP, as well as CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy), Parts Therapy and Mindfulness - to show you how to deal with the fears of the physical sensations, and give you an understanding that they are not life threatening. You will learn how to desensitise the sensations, calm your mind and retrain the brain, giving you back control over your life.

  • My anxiety was triggered by seeing a toxic ex. I couldn’t breathe. I did some parts therapy which was talking to ‘my younger self’. It really helped and I don’t worry about bumping into her at work anymore. Thank you Anita

  • I came to see Anita for sleep problems but uncovered overthinking, fear of judgement and perfectionist habits, that I was completely unaware of, but was affecting my whole life. Anita helped me to understand how this can happen, but also how to deal with too many negative thoughts. Hypnotherapy, CBT and Mindfulness helped me focus back into the moment rather than constantly worrying about the future.

  • Anita’s Hypnotherapy helped me through a very stressful exam week. My anxiety caused me to have multiple panic attacks but after the hypnotherapy it decreased and I managed the anxiety and exams in a more effective way.

  • Thank you Anita, my husband kept telling me to get over it as it was years ago. But that just made me more resentful. The hypnotherapy has helped me let go of the past. I’m taking things slowly and he isn’t rushing me, anymore. The boundaries you helped me with, show him what’s okay and what isn’t. I feel a lot better.

  • The cheating was one of the many red flags I ignored. Probably scared to be on my own. I won’t accept this again. Self- esteem work and affirmations really helped
