Releasing Addictions

Releasing Addictions

If you have an addiction, you’re not alone. According to the charity ‘Action on Addiction’, 1 in 3 people are addicted to something - whether its physical like a cigarette or emotional like anger.

Addiction is defined as not having control over doing, taking or using something to the point where it could be harmful to you. Even if you decide to stop, your mind and body still want it. Even if it has destroyed your health, taken your money, and people look down on you - your mind and body will still crave this, like an itch that just needs to be scratched.

This is because you have been programmed on a deeper level and however hard you try to reduce alcohol, stop smoking, gambling or shopping, you can’t do this, in the same way you can’t forget how to drive a car.

There may be underlying emotional satisfactions that drive you to seek a short- term reward or hit, releasing the dopamine that keeps you in this cycle or ‘programme’ .Whether its chocolate after a busy day at work, alcohol to relax, shouting to release stress, or gambling and shopping to escape discomfort.

Hypnotherapy combined with CBT will gently help you change this ‘addiction programme ‘or ‘compulsive shopping programme’ in your mind. You will begin to get a different perspective on your addictive behaviours. Whether an addiction felt central to your whole existence, or you simply want to reduce your alcohol intake, hypnotherapy can put you back in control of your life.

  • Dear Anita, would first like to thank you for the work that you have done with me regarding my addiction to Pepsi Max. I have been trying to kick the habit for years without any success.

I am very pleased to tell you that I don’t have any desire to drink this substance anymore and I am actually now committed to staying away from any diet drinks.

In the past when I had given up for some time it was always a battle, and I had to exercise a lot of will power constantly to resist buying or drinking it, and this made me feel miserable and deprived. I guess that would explain me constantly falling off the wagon. Now, I have no desire to drink it. There are no inner battles or feelings of missing out or being deprived.

This is where I am now and I thank you for getting me to this place.

You have been wonderful. Many thanks,

    Mrs O

  • I came to see Anita for sleep problems, but uncovered overthinking, fear of judgement and perfectionist thinking, that I was completely unaware of. Anita helped me to understand more about this, how to spot it and deal with ‘too many negative thoughts’. Hypnotherapy, CBT and Mindfulness helped me focus back into the moment, rather than constantly worry about the future.

  • I am so thankful that I decided to contact Anita for dealing with a narcissist. I was in a really toxic relationship for four years, which left me feeling really lost and confused about whether I should stay in this relationship or go. My instincts kept telling me to leave over the last few years but I ignored it - hoping and praying that things will improve.

Anita helped me open my eyes and see all the red flags in the relationship which I brushed under the carpet. I’ve learnt so many valuable lessons about myself, my personality type and different attachment styles and how this affects relationships. Anita gave me so much knowledge and as a result I found the courage to leave the unhappy situation.

Anita taught me how I can be happy by improving my self esteem and confidence which I lost whilst I was with him- I now finally understand it’s all about self love and the hypnotherapy really helped with that.

I highly recommend Anita as she is extremely professional, knowledgable and very easy to talk to! She has such a calm, soothing voice which helps anyone feel at ease! I honestly feel like I’ve found a friend in Anita- a friend who saved me from ruining my life with a narcissist.
